The 90% silver Morgan Dollar was minted from 1878 to 1894 and then again in 1921. The Morgan Dollar replaced the rare Seated Liberty Dollar until it was later replaced by the Peace Dollar in 1921.
This beautifully textile toned 1889 Morgan Dollar was minted in Philadelphia with a total mintage of 21,726,811 coins. Luckily it survived the Pittman Act of 1918 where up to 270,232,722 silver dollars were melted by the U.S. Mint and converted to bullion for sale to Great Britain at $1.00 per ounce!
